Hello Jaycees!!! Welcome to our international blog. Do you want to learn how other 200,000 jaycees around the world are making a difference in their communities?? Do not miss our updates. See you in Ocala at the Florida conference for more info.

Let's start from the very beginning.

Almost a century ago, Henry "Hy" Giessenbier, Jr., and a group of young people decided to take responsibility for their personal and professional development as well as for the progress and welfare of their community by helping tackle difficult problems around them. Together with other 32 young men,  Giessenbier established the Young Men's Progressive Civic Association (YMPCA), the First Local Organization, at the Mission Inn in St. Louis, Missouri, on October 13, 1915. Since then we have been known  as the Jaycees (JCs = Junior Citizens).

Did you know that your chapter (or LOM - Local Organization member), the Florida Jaycees and the US Jaycees (or NOM - National Organization Member) are part of a broader organization called Junior Chamber International (JCI)? If you did not, you will be amazed once you learn more about JCI and the countless opportunities that this organization has to offer you.

For now I encourage you to visit our National Organization (www.usjaycees.org) and JCI website (www.jci.cc) to learn more what other Jaycees, like you, are doing in their communities in other states and in other countries. Check out the new video posted by our 2010 JCI World President Roland Kwemain (that's how far you can get within this organization). Click here: http://www.jci.cc/news/en/15275/%3Cb%3EBe-the-Change-in-2010%3C/b%3E

See you ALL in Ocala.
